Indian actress Zareen Khan is confronted with potential arrest in a 'fraud' case.

A Kolkata court has recently taken a significant legal step, issuing an arrest warrant against Bollywood actress Zareen Khan. This development is linked to an alleged cheating case dating back to 2018 when the case was originally registered against her. Following an investigation, a charge sheet was presented to the Sealdah court in Kolkata.

Notably, Khan's response—or lack thereof—to these legal proceedings is drawing attention. Despite her awareness of the ongoing case against her, she neither sought bail nor appeared before the court for scheduled hearings. Consequently, due to her repeated absences, the court decided to issue an arrest warrant against her.

When questioned about the warrant, she expressed surprise and uncertainty, stating her belief that there is no truth to the allegations. She mentioned her intention to consult with her legal counsel for clarification and suggested contacting her public relations team for interim information.

The background of the case involves an incident in 2018 when Khan was scheduled to perform at a Durga Puja event in Kolkata but failed to make an appearance, leading to a formal complaint by one of the organizers, accusing her and her manager of cheating. An FIR was filed against both individuals, who were subsequently summoned for questioning.

During initial questioning, Khan claimed that she had been misled by the event organizers, receiving false information about the event's significance. She alleged miscommunication regarding flight arrangements and accommodations, which compelled her to skip the event. In response, Khan filed a case against the event organizers, adding legal complexity to the situation. Subsequently, a charge sheet was filed against both the actress and her manager. While her manager sought bail and appeared before the court, Khan chose neither option, resulting in the recent arrest warrant.

Her attorney, Rizwan Siddiquee, issued a statement addressing the situation, suggesting it may be a result of misinformation. He emphasized that Khan has received legal protection from the High Court of Calcutta regarding this case and noted delays in the complainant serving legal documents. Siddiquee's statement underlines that the case revolves around the 2018 incident when Khan was expected to perform at the Durga Puja event but failed to appear.

Additionally, Khan's attorney asserts that the actress was purportedly led to believe that the Kali Puja event was organized in collaboration with the West Bengal government, featuring the Chief Minister, Sports Minister, and Ex-Sports Minister. This sheds light on the circumstances surrounding the case.

Regarding her career, Zareen Khan made her Bollywood debut in 'Veer,' alongside Salman Khan. She has also starred in numerous films across various languages, including 'Housefull 2' and '1921.' Her most recent film role was in Harish Vyas' 2021 production, 'Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele.'
