In recognition of his outstanding performance throughout the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9, Javed Afridi, the owner of Peshawar Zalmi, presented the franchise's captain, Babar Azam, with a luxury car on Monday.
Afridi took to his X handle (formerly Twitter) to share a post featuring Babar seated inside his new car alongside Afridi himself. Babar emerged as the leading run-scorer of the tournament, amassing 569 runs in 11 innings with an impressive average of 56.90, which included five half-centuries and a century.
Despite being considered as favorites to win, Zalmi faced defeat in both knockout games against Multan Sultans and Islamabad United, respectively.
Currently, Babar is leading the Pakistan side in the ongoing five-match T20I series against New Zealand, where he has led the team in a competitive manner. With the series currently tied at 1-1, the remaining two matches are scheduled to take place at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium.
In the third T20I, Pakistan suffered a seven-wicket defeat, during which Babar surpassed Aaron Finch to become the leading run-scorer as a T20I captain, accumulating 2246* runs in 67 innings. Notably, he holds the record as Pakistan's top run-getter in this format, amassing 3749 runs in 105 innings, with 33 fifties and three centuries to his name.
Babar's leadership in white-ball formats was reaffirmed prior to the commencement of the New Zealand series, while Shaheen Afridi was relieved from the captaincy after just one series.
