Asim Azhar's 'Jo Tu Na Mila' surpasses 100 million Spotify streams, a historic first for the artist.

"My debut track to hit 100 million Spotify streams, and as a thank you, I have a special surprise for all the Jo Tu Na Mila fans," the singer announced. Alongside a snippet of the song's lyrics, Azhar offered a preview of the upcoming version of this beloved song. The post also acknowledged Kunaal Vermaa, the lyrical genius behind the song, with Azhar praising Vermaa's exceptional songwriting skills.

Initially released in 2018, this chart-topping hit achieved 100 million YouTube views by May 2020. As Azhar marked this achievement on X (formerly Twitter), he expressed his gratitude, saying, "100 million views for Jo Tu Na Mila! It's a tremendous honor to be the fourth Pakistani artist, joining legends like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Atif Aslam, and Momina Mustehsan, with two or more songs crossing the 100 million view mark. Thank you, I love you all."

In an Instagram post, the singer further reflected on this remarkable milestone, saying, "I'm still finding it hard to believe, almost lost for words. While this may be a common achievement in certain parts of the world, originating from our region and facing various challenges, including the YouTube ban, it was an incredibly challenging journey."

The same track stirred controversy over alleged plagiarism, as some on social media noted its similarity to the melody from the 1989 Japanese film, "A Town with an Ocean View," originally composed by Joe Hisaishi. In response, the singer clarified that the rights for the melody had been obtained through proper and legal means under Universal Music India, the song's releasing label.
